The Finance Committee reviewed bid results for multiple Road Department projects, with low bids ranging from $84,888 to $388,135 depending on the project. Projects reviewed included Bakertown Road scratch & seal (Michigan Paving $388,135), Scherr Hills HMA (Rieth-Riley $223,034), Harbor Country Drive mill & fill (Michigan Paving $192,848), Mall Drive mill & fill (Rieth-Riley $167,999) and McCoy Creek Trail drainage improvements (Rieth-Riley $84,888).
Commissioner Jon Hinkelman moved, with support from Commissioner Rayonte Bell, to refer the bids to the responsible departments and allow departments to proceed with the lowest responsible bidder that meets specifications. The motion requires departments to submit justification to the Finance Committee if they propose selecting a bidder that is not the lowest. The committee also authorized the County Administrator to execute any subsequent contract and contract modifications up to $10,000. The motion carried.
