Commissioners asked that the county restore a monthly financial-report format; staff agreed to resume monthly reports for the board. The director said the assistant finance officer position remains vacant and temporary staff are assisting with cleanup and audit preparation.
Commissioners also focused on Bertie County EMS and non‑emergency transport. Staff said non‑emergency transport has lost money in recent years; the board discussed past pay increases (a flat $3/hour for some EMS hourly staff and 3% increases for many other county employees) and said they are monitoring revenue and operating models to determine sustainability and next steps.
