Box Elder County holds CDBG public hearing after $195,000 award for Riverside North Garland water improvements

Box Elder County Commissioner Lee Perry opened a public hearing at 3:00 p.m. on May 19, 2026 to solicit citizen input on the Riverside North Garland Water Project after the county successfully applied for a 2026 Community Development Block Grant. "this hearing was called to allow all citizens to provide input concerning the project that was awarded under the 2026 Community Development Block Grant Program," Perry said. He stated the award amount is $195,000 toward a total project cost of $1,019,010.
Project Manager David Forsberg, introduced by Perry, outlined the planned work. Forsberg said the project team will "purchase a new well and they will redo it to get it up to culinary standards to be in compliance," add upgrades to the piping that serves Riverside and North Garland, and connect the system to a transmission line east of the well; the county described the line as a gravity-fed system. Commissioner Perry told attendees copies of the county's amended capital investment plan are available for review.
The hearing produced no public comments. Commissioner Perry adjourned the hearing at 3:06 p.m. The record of the meeting notes the proceeding was "ADOPTED AND APPROVED in regular session this 19th day of May 2026." The county will proceed with project implementation and follow applicable CDBG program requirements for procurement and compliance.
