VDOT outlines July maintenance, paving schedule and Pinchersville turn lane update

"We completed some brush removal, pipe cleaning, asphalt patching, pothole patching, countywide tree trimming, storm debris and address work orders," he said, and noted ongoing surface treatments and plant‑mix paving on routes countywide.
Hunter also reported project‑level timelines: the box culvert replacement on River Road (Route 354) is under construction with a contractor finish date currently scheduled for Sept. 2, and the Route 3/Pinchersville turn lane remains active. He said a design public hearing for the Pankaj Field/Crawford's Corner alignment will be held Aug. 26 from 5–7 p.m. at the Kilmarnock elementary school.
Board members asked about speed studies and possible stop‑sign relocations on Old Salem/Route 200 and about options for school‑zone enforcement (including private speed‑camera vendors). Hunter said the county's traffic engineers would review permit applications from camera companies and that revenue sharing models were typically part of vendor agreements.
