Selectboard authorizes signing of town emergency plan; police report lists multiple arrests, new officer hired

At its May 13 meeting the Winhall Selectboard authorized Chair Stuart Coleman to sign the "Winhall Local Emergency Management Plan" as written; the motion was made by Bill Schwartz, seconded by Julie Isaacs and approved unanimously by the board.
Chief Tienken presented the police department's April report, summarizing traffic tickets and warnings, vehicle accidents, property watch activity, alarms, animal control matters, and several assists with medical calls and other agencies in and around Winhall and Stratton Mountain Resort. The chief reported arrests for domestic assault, stalking, driving with a suspended license and an arrest for excessive speeding. The Selectboard also welcomed Haven Tatarek as a new full-time police hire. Chief Tienken said the department's police dog is now eight years old and the department is training a younger dog; he added that purchasing a new cruiser is —most likely not necessary for this year.—
