District upgrades backups, pilots electronic door access and tightens security certificates

The district's technology and innovation team reported several infrastructure upgrades during the June 23 meeting. The TIS director said a new file-backup server was launched to meet cybersecurity insurer and auditor expectations and to provide a larger, more secure backup of district files.
Technology staff also described pilots to move to electronic door access for gates and some internal doors, and an upgrade to security certificates that the team said will save recurring costs while providing stronger encryption. "This new backup server takes all of our important files and puts them onto a secure storage device, and it's twice as large and... more secure than the system that we're using," the TIS director said. The board acknowledged the work and thanked the team.
