Members agreed to postpone final approval of the board handbook so Chair Jeff Wickersham—absent for a prearranged absence—could review recent edits. Mark Chambers and Lisa Birney both said they had proposed minor changes and preferred waiting for the chair to review.
Superintendent Ingrid Colvard told the board the Washington State School Directors' Association (WSSDA) released new policies that may require the district to change procedures; she said she was concerned some suggested policy language might not match current district practice and that the board could decide whether to adopt changes without a second reading depending on the urgency to align with state guidance.
