Community Land Trust Seeks Board Support for 14 Affordable Homes Near WRMS

Liz Wilber, representing the Community Land Trust Project, asked the Stevenson-Carson School District Board of Directors on Sept. 11 for a letter of support for a planned affordable-housing development near WRMS. "The non-profit group is applying for a grant to build 14 homes on about half an acre each on land neighboring WRMS," Wilber said during her presentation, and she requested the board's endorsement to strengthen the grant application.
Wilber told the board that the homes would be stick-built and cost about $250,000 each, compared with an average county home price of about $550,000; prospective buyers would need to be creditworthy and obtain a conventional mortgage and would be subject to income caps. If funding is secured, the group plans to break ground no later than June 2026. The board approved a letter of support: Chair Jeff Wickersham moved to approve, Lisa Birney seconded, Mark Chambers abstained, and the motion carried.
