Planning Commission reviews draft Capital Improvement Plan ahead of Selectboard presentation

Planning Director Tracy Bodeo asked the Town of Lyndon's Planning Commission on June 10 to review a nearly complete draft Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) that implements Action 4.2 of the Town Plan. "Action 4.2 specifically calls for the Town to create a Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)," Bodeo told commissioners, and she said the draft CIP is being submitted as part of the Town's Downtown Designation application.
Bodeo listed candidate projects for inclusion in the five-year CIP, including a flood restoration park at the former Town Garage site, added curbing and parking around Bandstand Park, and projects on flood buyout properties. She said the CIP consolidates existing long-term debt and proposed new debt but does not itself commit the Selectboard to annual budgets: "The Selectboard still needs to approve a budget annually, and the CIP can be adjusted based on new priorities," she said. Bodeo also noted that several cost figures will be updated—specifically the total cost of flood damage repairs and a better estimate for a gym renovation—before Consultant Heather Carrington presents the draft to the Selectboard on Monday, June 15. The Planning Commission agreed the draft appeared reasonable and will provide detailed suggestions before the Selectboard meeting.
