MPPD presents community energy report: $10M in lease payments, community solar output and generation mix

Flamig said the utility collected and remitted nearly $10,000,000 in lease payments to the city and nearly $500,000 in city sales tax; he also stated that "In 20 24, 2100000 dollars was, collected in gross revenue tax and paid to Buffalo County." He reported that $125,000 in incentives were processed for MPPD customers in Kearney and that the community solar farm produced 10,000,000 kilowatt‑hours with 5,591 participant shares available.
Flamig described MPPD's generation mix as roughly 58% "carbon free" (nuclear, hydro, wind, solar), about 28% coal, roughly 9% purchased power, and noted the utility's fleet of generation (3,200 megawatts total) and ongoing efforts to secure contracts for about 700 megawatts of new generation near Lincoln (primarily natural gas). He said MPPD's average retail rates are just under 11¢ per kilowatt‑hour and offered to provide more specific rate comparisons on follow up when asked by council members. "I can definitely get those numbers for you," Flamig said in response to a rate question.
