County updates mill-levy ballot language after Legislature changes statute

"These were recent legislature changes, so these changes came from Senate Bill 11," Morgan Smith said, explaining the bill’s catch-all provision applies to local government ballot language and requires the chief election administrator to use a numeric code (the packet used "CW" to designate county-wide levies). Hofland said she edited the Smelter City Senior Citizens' Center levy language to include a two-year term and needs final language before certification deadlines.
Hofland explained that the Study Commission measures follow different statutory rules and will still include the prior "for" statements. Because the Secretary of State requires certified ballot language by mid-March, Hart called a special meeting to finalize the corrected resolutions. No public comment was offered during the work session.
