Aspen council votes to enter executive session on contracts, negotiations and personnel

The Aspen City Council voted on Jan. 7 to enter executive session pursuant to CRS section 24-6-402(4)(e) "determining positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations, developing strategy for negotiation and instructing negotiators," and for certain personnel matters. City Attorney Jim said the specific items to be discussed are the city attorney contract, instructions for negotiators regarding the municipal judge contract, and the city manager review.
The council approved the motion to convene an executive session in a roll-call vote; Jim noted the session would be recorded and the recording maintained by the clerk for at least 90 days. No substantive deliberations from the executive session were discussed in open session, consistent with Colorado open-meetings law for executive sessions on negotiation and personnel matters.
Because the session is closed, the council provided only the public reason for the executive session on the record; any action resulting from the executive session will be documented in future public proceedings as required.
