The Parker County Historical Commission received the 2025 Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission at the June 22 Parker County Commissioners Court meeting in Weatherford. Terry, president of the historical commission, thanked the court and described the group's recent work, including acquisition and early rehabilitation of the James Claude Bridal Home (the "Jim Ride House") for use as office space and a museum.
Terry highlighted a three‑lecture series the commission ran in 2025—covering topics from guestbooks of historic travelers to prehistoric burials and a popular downtown lantern tour—and said the group has been active in downtown events such as the Peach Festival and the Downtown Hop Around. "We have formed a support organization named Historic Parker County Incorporated," Terry said, describing plans for a 501(c)(3) to aid future fundraising for rehabilitation projects. Judge Dean read the proclamation and congratulated the commission on its statewide recognition; the court posed for photos to mark the award.
The presentation also included outreach updates from Jana Blumentritt, chair of the Community Outreach and Education Committee, who described the commission's educational exhibits and lecture attendance. The court noted the award recognizes the commission's preservation program and encouraged continued public engagement.
