Commissioners table proposed Claremore subdivision rezoning after public opposition

The Rogers County Board heard a public hearing on Case #2671, a request from McGuire Brothers, LLC to rezone property at 4505 E. Maple Dr., Claremore, from AG (Agriculture) to RS-20 (Residential Single-Family Medium) for a proposed single-family subdivision. Planning Commission Director Missy Richardson presented the case; the planning commission had voted 3-2 to recommend denial. Four members of the public spoke against the rezoning and the applicant was present and spoke in favor.
Commissioner Steve Hendrix moved to deny the rezoning, but the motion failed for lack of a second. Chairman Ron Burrows then moved to table the item for one week, and Commissioner Dan DeLozier seconded; the motion carried by roll call. The board did not take a final vote on the rezoning and will reconsider the item at a future meeting.
