The Huachuca City Council unanimously approved a Lions' Club proposal to create a rock garden and path at Leffingwell Park.
Town Manager Suzanne Harvey described the proposal as a collaboration among the Lions' Club, Huachuca City School and the Town. Harvey said the Town will spend approximately $800 to extend the sidewalk between the school and the library using edging and millings, while schoolchildren will paint rocks to line the path.
Mayor Johann Wallace moved to approve the proposal and Councilmember Cynthia Butterworth seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Council noted the project's low cost and community-engagement value.
Next steps: staff will coordinate with the Lions' Club and school on a timeline for sidewalk work and volunteer days for students to paint rocks.
