The Vernon County Commission approved an Interagency Agreement July 22 between the 28th Judicial Circuit Juvenile Office and the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office for juvenile transportation services, effective the same day. Commissioner John Shorten moved to approve the agreement; Commissioner Cindy Thompson seconded and the vote was recorded as unanimous.
Under the agreement, an off‑duty deputy serving as transport will be compensated at $25 per hour, paid directly by the Juvenile Office to the deputy as an independent contractor. The Juvenile Office will also pay the Sheriff’s Office $0.70 per mile for each transport. The agreement term is one year as recorded in the minutes.
