The Vernon County Commission voted unanimously July 22 to accept the resignation of Charles Comstock as Trustee of Coal Township and to appoint Kerry Ast as his successor. Commissioner Cindy Thompson made the motion and Commissioner John Shorten seconded; "All voted yes to approve," the minutes state. Ragan Forkner, Deputy Clerk, swore in Kerry Ast effective the day of the meeting.
The appointment was handled during a brief agenda item that also recorded Commissioner Wilson’s attendance at regional meetings earlier in the week. The action was recorded as a formal motion and included the swearing‑in ceremony; no dissent or amendment to the motion was recorded.
