Council schedules more hearings; work session recessed for public hearing
Summary
Following the budget presentation and Q&A, the council scheduled three additional budget work sessions (July 28, Aug. 11, Aug. 25) and a second public hearing at the Sept. 8 council meeting before final adoption; council voted verbally to recess the work session to convene the public hearing.
At the end of the work session staff reviewed the FY2026 schedule: three additional work sessions on July 28, Aug. 11 and Aug. 25, then the council meeting on Sept. 8 for the second public hearing and eventual adoption before the Oct. 1 start of the fiscal year.
A motion was made by a councilmember to recess the work session so the council could convene the public hearing in the council chambers. The motion was moved and agreed to by verbal assent on the floor; the transcript records no roll-call tally. Staff and councilmembers agreed to provide a digital copy of the proposed budget to members before the next session.
