Highway Superintendent John Pluimer asked the board to sign a commitment letter for a Community Crossing grant for 500 E. Pluimer told commissioners the total project cost is $893,085 and the county’s 20% share would be $178,617; he said the county would apply for the grant by the end of the month. “Total project cost is $893,085; county would pay 20% for a cost of $178,617,” Pluimer said. The board voted to sign the commitment letter (motion by Dan Borgenheimer; second by Laura Coons; vote 3–0).
Pluimer also presented a countywide bridge inspection contract with SJCA totaling $247,170.14, which the county will pay over four years; the commissioners accepted the contract on a motion by Coons and second by Borgenheimer (vote 3–0). The board approved right-of-way work requests for BSM Groups to install fiber on Angling Pike and for AEP to replace poles in Montpelier (450 N and Warren Ave); it also approved the City of Hartford’s temporary use of county dumpsters and a rollback truck for house demolition, with the city’s insurance covering the use.
