The Aspen City Council voted to open the land use code for two amendments: one to add a Natural Medicine Business use category and related definitions consistent with Proposition 122 language, and a second to change the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting schedule codified in Title 26. Planning staff said the first amendment would be limited to time, place and manner (location) regulations such as a proposed 1,000-foot buffer from schools and day-care facilities; further substantive edits would come at first reading.
Staff recommended approval of Resolution 5 as the procedural step to begin the formal amendment process; council approved the resolution without public comment. Council members said they expect a more detailed discussion at first reading later this month.
