Wendell Transfer Station damaged by wildfire; operations paused until Idaho Power repairs pole

Commissioner Ron Buhler reported significant wildfire damage at the Wendell Transfer Station. Buhler said the main office contained a trailer that was totaled by the fire and that a power pole with a transformer burned down, preventing the station from operating until Idaho Power replaces the pole. He stated that "everything is covered by insurance" and that, in the interim, Gooding County residents may use surrounding transfer stations at no charge.
Commissioner Mark E. Bolduc also reported that repainting work on jail floors completed earlier looks good. The transfer station damage will require coordination with Idaho Power and insurance claims processing; the county has temporarily waived fees at neighboring stations for Gooding County residents while the Wendell site is out of service.
