Ambulance director urges billing for missed QRU responses; county considers letter to vendors

Director Jon Kepler updated the Board during the Ambulance District session on SIRCOMM billing and quick response unit (QRU) performance. Kepler explained that Gooding County is billed for every call in the county and that charges can accrue when a QRU, such as Bliss QRU, does not respond but Gooding EMS does. He said Bliss QRU holds a state waiver that allows it to limit responses, which in practice results in duplicate county charges when Gooding EMS covers calls.
Kepler recommended the county bill the City of Bliss for charges tied to missed QRU responses. Prosecutor Misseldine advised Kepler to draft letters to all QRUs notifying them the county would seek payment for future missed-call charges. Kepler also reported staff are addressing items raised in an earlier employee survey and said an environmentally friendly surface treatment will be applied next Friday to the EMS parking lot.
