Probation supervisors urge department credit cards; board to review during budget sessions

Adult Probation Supervisor Tracey Martin and Juvenile Probation Supervisor Carol Johnson reported instances where hotels or vendors could not direct bill county accounts or where county card limits prevented direct payment, forcing staff to use personal cards and seek reimbursement. They asked why each department could not have its own county card even if not overseen by an elected official.
Commissioner Mark E. Bolduc noted it was unacceptable for staff to use personal cards for county business. Prosecutor Misseldine advised bringing the topic into budget planning to determine how often departments need cards and whether limits should be raised. The board asked County Clerk Chad Hoeft to examine current card limits and whether increases or departmental cards are feasible.
