Board of Equalization approves two property value reductions

Assessor Baldwin presented two assessment change requests to the Board of Equalization and the board approved both. Commissioner Vern Eames moved to approve reducing the assessed land value for parcel RP08S16E188955 from $127,880 to $118,400 and to reduce the improvement value for parcel RP08S15E153948 from $101,635 to $0; Commissioner Ron Buhler seconded the motion and it carried.
The adjustment reflects two different rationales given by the assessor: one parcel’s land value was not in line with comparable sales and the other reflected improvements that were torn down several years ago and only recently reported to the assessor’s office. The changes were processed during the BOE session that began at 10:22 a.m. and were finalized before the board returned to regular session.
