Emergency services report documents Seneca Lake water issues and recent major responses

Ryan Bailey and David Dowdle reported to the Public Safety Committee that Emergency Services documented water-level problems on Seneca Lake and fielded a significant volume of public inquiries, offering sandbags where needed. "The biggest thing that happened last month was documenting water level issues on Seneca Lake," Bailey said. Staff also reported completed trainings including decontamination and live-burn refresher sessions and listed incident responses including a house fire and multi-vehicle incidents with entrapment requiring helicopter response.
EMS updates from Mr. Dowdle included regional approval of a BLS iGel program that will allow basic EMTs to insert advanced airways pending state approval, and that one EMT graduate is awaiting New York State certification. The committee received the reports as information and discussed sending a resolution to establish new specialty rescue teams to the legislative meeting for further consideration.
