Finance report: retirement Tier 6 changes noted, DMV upgrades may affect sales tax figures

Leigh Battin presented finance matters to the committee. She reviewed the 2025 Cost Allocation Plan and 2025 financial audit items and reported takeaways from the NYSAC Finance School. Battin said Tier 6 retirement changes will take effect Oct. 1 and that contribution calculations will change to a range of rates tied to employee salary levels (noted in the report as a change to rates between 3% and 5.75%).
She also discussed sales-tax reporting: DMV filing upgrades earlier in the year delayed some Quarter 4 data and counties may see adjustments to sales-tax figures as a result; short-term rental sales tax remains included in the travel section and is not being separated out at this time. Battin said an offer had been made to a Principal Account Clerk Typist and that staff expect the new hire to start soon. The report was accepted as information.
