Sheriff Brian Schenck reported the county jail was holding 145 incarcerated individuals at the time of his report, including 14 federal board-ins, five local board-ins, 14 New York State parolees detained on new charges and five parolees detained for violations. Schenck said the department is participating in a regional law-enforcement recruiting event with Cayuga Community College and is updating surveillance cameras in the jail with IT assistance.
On the resolutions docket, the committee approved an amended contract to provide a full-time Special Patrol Officer employed by the Sheriff's Office to Weedsport Central School District (Resolution 2-26-JP-5). Members also authorized an MOU to allow the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) to access three law-enforcement channels within the county's E-911 network (2-26-JP-6), extended the LexisNexis electronic law library agreement for the jail (2-26-JP-7), authorized filling a vacant detective position (2-26-JP-8), and approved a contract with Lexipol for web-based training services (2-26-JP-9). All motions were recorded as carried unanimously.
