Office for the Aging reports $9,753 in Meals on Wheels donations, audit and staffing updates

Brenda Wiemann of the Office for the Aging reported that, per legislative direction, the office sent letters to towns and villages detailing Meals on Wheels recipients and meals served and asking for donations; that process yielded $9,753 for 2025. She said the director continues to interview candidates for a Jr. Accountant position.
Wiemann also told the committee that the New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) will conduct a desk audit of the Caregiver services program and transportation service on Feb. 17, and that a regular Senior Nutrition Program audit will occur in June. She summarized recent staff trainings on topics ranging from Medicare changes to dementia and LGBTQ+ older adult needs.
