Middle school overhauls special-education model; community donates coats and snacks

Middle School Principal Trisha Roach reported multiple operational and student-support updates to the Tonasket School Board on Jan. 28. She said the middle school completed a comprehensive overhaul of its special-education model serving 31 students and reported strong community support: 45 coats were provided through North 40 donations and SunOpta has donated fruit snacks for MS students.
Roach described facility and family-engagement improvements, including installation of a sliding window at the MS office that lets students speak to office staff without entering the building and a winter-store program where students use PBIS points to buy items for their families. She also said iReady testing is nearly complete with preliminary improvement signals and that WIDA testing for ESL students will be completed in one day.
