Elementary Principal Lilly Martin told the board the first trimester had just ended and that the elementary report card has been updated and realigned to district standards after a report-card committee review and refresher training on standards-based reporting. Martin described Turkey Torchlight reading day, a schoolwide sing-along of Christmas carols, and PTO-sponsored Turkey Bingo with a strong turnout.
Reading Specialist Megan Huckaby provided training for elementary staff on building reading fluency, and Martin said PBIS rewards had been popular: students paid for staff to participate in a BeanBoozled challenge and the school recently completed a Path to Success reward that included a PJ day, hot chocolate, and viewing Polar Express during lunch.
