Council to take Entrance to Aspen poll and regional issues to joint BOCC session Feb. 10

The Aspen City Council agreed to prepare for a joint work session with the Board of County Commissioners on Monday, Feb. 10 at 4 p.m., and asked staff to narrow the county agenda to one or two focused items.
Chair said he recommended the RAISE grant and transportation planning around the Aspen Airport area, and the county signaled interest in seeing the survey results. Councilmembers urged the agenda include broader traffic‑flow improvements on Highway 82 rather than only the entrance area, and several councilmembers proposed wildfire mitigation and regional water storage as priorities for county collaboration.
Councilmember Bill said wildfire mitigation should take precedence over homelessness in the joint conversation, and councilmember John flagged the city's limited water storage (about a 24‑hour supply on the busiest days) as a resilience concern. Staff said they will coordinate with county managers, brief the incoming mayor and prepare an agenda that fits a two‑hour joint session.
