Judge John Lothspeich swore in Gary Taylor as Jerome County Sheriff during the Board's April 21 meeting. The ceremony followed a process the commissioners described for narrowing eight candidates to a single appointee.
Gary Taylor thanked residents for their support and characterized the appointment as "a very humbling experience." He said the political process has been stressful, that he is "very protective of his family," and that his goal is "to earn back the trust of the community" and ultimately stand for election to the office. The swearing-in was recorded by Deputy Clerk Ryan Treanor and closed the morning portion of the meeting.
