At its April 28 meeting the Page County Planning Commission voted unanimously (6–0) to recommend approval of a special-use permit for a banquet/event facility proposed by Randy Whitesides and Dawn Pence at 625 Riverbend Road (Tax Map 69-(A)-126). The 2.5-acre parcel is zoned Agriculture (A-1) and the proposal calls for converting an existing barn to an event space, repurposing a milk barn as a dressing room, and establishing a designated parking area.
Staff noted agency conditions: VDOT requires an upgraded entrance for the proposed commercial use; the Health Department will require an appropriately sized sewage disposal system consistent with the expected attendance and number of events before operations begin; the Building Official raised no objections but required applicable permits. Staff urged commissioners to "carefully consider any conditions" that should accompany a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors. The Commission recommended approval and will forward its recommendation and the conditions to the Board for final action.
What’s next: Applicants must secure the required entrance improvements, satisfy any VDH requirements for sewage and occupancy, and obtain all necessary building permits before opening to the public.
