The presenter recounted an August 28 'round robin' test in which a partner county’s calls were routed to Horry and other counties and then dispatched from the originating county; he said the test showed the network can take calls seamlessly during outages and avoid overwhelming a single backup center. “Nobody in the country has done this,” the presenter said of the round‑robin concept.
On the radio side, staff said they replaced the system core and can now program radios remotely and encrypt traffic over the air, saving time and allowing technicians to avoid long trips to field locations. Committee members asked about remaining dead spots; staff said towers and other hardware are being installed and coverage‑map testing was scheduled.
