Auditors adopt overtime, vacation, sick-leave and benefits rules for roadmasters

The board approved several employment and leave policies for full-time roadmasters on Jan. 6. Overtime was established at one-and-one-half times the regular hourly rate for any hours over 40 in a work week (including paid holidays, sick days and vacation); vacation was set at 19 days per year with the ability to carry over up to five days to the following year; and carried-over vacation must be used in the following year at the hourly rate in effect when earned.
The auditors also approved sick leave of eight days per year with an ability to carry over eight days annually and accumulate up to 30 days total, to be paid out at the rate in effect when the time was earned. The board adopted a list of paid holidays for 2026 and authorized full-time roadmasters to remain in the township's current pension and insurance plans on the same terms as other full-time employees. All motions on these personnel items passed unanimously.
