Committee memorializes opposition to state bills on renewable siting in state forests

County Manager Jack K. Wheeler advised the committee about a newly proposed State legislative change that would allow New York State to control siting of renewable energy technologies on state land, including state forests. Wheeler said Steuben County contains more than 25,000 acres of state forest and noted that neighboring Allegany County had memorialized opposition to similar language.
On a motion by Shannon Logsdon, seconded by Michael Volino, the committee voted 4‑0 to memorialize the county legislature in opposition to New York State Senate Bill S.4408 and Assembly Bill A.10483. The committee recorded that a formal resolution would be prepared.
