As the district enters the final year of its 2021–2026 strategic plan, the board chose two priorities for 2025–26. Superintendent Ingrid Colvard asked the board which portions of the plan to emphasize; Mark Chambers urged more emphasis on communication and community engagement while Lisa Birney requested recent data before shifting emphasis away from academics. The board approved a motion by Mark Chambers, seconded by Mitch Engel, to designate Academic Excellence and Growth and Communications and Engagement as the two priorities for 2025–26.
Colvard told the board she has reviewed data and is not ready to move away from a focus on academic excellence and growth. The board’s action provides direction for staff in the coming school year and will guide workplans and reporting to the board.
