Wayne County mental health department seeks consultant to fix billing issues and flags security concerns

Sharon MacDougall, Wayne County Mental Health Director, told the committee the department is working to resolve ongoing electronic billing issues and is collaborating with Purchasing and IT to develop an RFP to hire a consultant to update the system. She said January productivity numbers were lower than expected because of weather-related delays and staff and client illnesses.
MacDougall also warned that the department’s "overall risk level is increasing, making safety a top priority." County Administrator Mark Humbert confirmed prior discussions about enhanced building security, noting potential steps such as keeping doors locked, adding cameras and video monitoring, installing a security scanner for visitors and possibly adding a security guard; Public Health and Aging and Youth staff backed extra measures.
