The City of Kearney Planning Commission voted to approve the vacation of Lot 1, Stansbury Addition, and the final plat for Mills Addition, converting the parcel (property ID 606089051) into a single outlot. Applicant representative Craig Bennett said the property has elevation challenges and would be designated as an unbuildable outlot.
"My name is Craig Bennett. 1111 Central Avenue," Bennett told the commission during his presentation, explaining the lot is zoned C-3 and that converting it to an outlot reduces taxes and prevents future building on that parcel. He told commissioners the area "would be used, and designated as an outlot" and that the lot measures about "1.31 acre."
Planning staff member Melissa summarized staff findings, saying the lot will remain zoned C-3, complies with site development regulations, no new infrastructure is proposed, and the replat is consistent with the 2016 comprehensive plan. "Staff recommends approval of the subdivision, vacation, and final plat," Melissa said.
A commissioner moved to approve the partial subdivision vacation (as stated on the record) and a separate motion to approve the final plat of Mills Addition; both motions were seconded and approved by roll call. The public hearing drew no public speakers.
