Cherokee County discusses commercial solar rules; counselor warns on private meetings

During public comment, resident Roger Draeger asked for private meetings between the Board and solar companies to review contract details. County Counselor Jake Conard responded that he “would be concerned with violating the Kansas Open Meetings Act,” making clear that private deliberations could raise legal issues. Commissioners later returned to the topic and requested cost estimates for zoning and asked whether ARPA funds might be designated for zoning-related work; no formal action was taken.
