He said the commission began the year with roughly $29,000, spent about $11,000 on spring planting, budgeted roughly $3,000 for arborist services, and planned a $30,000 allocation for the Willows project. Perez said anticipated PHS reimbursement of $9,650 and donations leave a projected balance of about $19,000 going into the next planting season.
Commissioners discussed the mix of revenue (donations, fees-in-lieu, business donations) and clarified that in-kind material donations are not counted as cash in the commemorative fund. Perez said he would propose quarterly updates going forward and that the commission should consider asking the Board of Commissioners for modest budget support to guarantee at least one seasonal planting if fees-in-lieu and donations fluctuate.
