Lawrence County canvasses 2026 primary; commissioners set post‑election audit

The Lawrence County Commissioners unanimously voted June 4 to canvass the 2026 Primary Election results and to proceed with a post‑election manual audit, the board’s minutes show.
Brenda McGruder, Lawrence County auditor, thanked election staff and volunteers for their work during the primary. “I want to thank my team, election workers, co‑workers and the commissioners for all the help during the primary election,” McGruder said.
Commissioner Robert Ewing moved to canvass the primary election results; Commissioner Richard Tysdal seconded and the motion carried with all members present voting in favor. Later, Commissioner Richard Tysdal moved and Commissioner Timm Comer seconded approval of the precincts and races selected for manual counting during the audit; that motion also passed unanimously.
The commissioners did not declare any conflicts of interest during the special meeting. The board adjourned at 8:23 a.m.
