Montgomery County Master Gardeners win state recognition, will host 2027 conference; fairgrounds raingarden funded

Extension presenters reported that the Montgomery County Master Gardener Volunteer program earned state recognition for platinum standards and that the county was selected to host the 2027 state Master Gardener conference, which Extension estimated could bring about 300 master gardeners to the county. Leeoria Willis (ANR Educator) provided the recognition and hosting details during the extension update to the Board of Commissioners.
Staff also reported that the Dayton Garden Club has partially funded a planned raingarden at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds with a $12,000 contribution to begin work this summer; the project was first planned in 2019 and Extension said the funding would allow partial implementation this year.
