Board holds focus group for five-year Community Health Assessment

Health Officer Heather Puente, Public Health Manager Teresa Ortiz and Public Health Specialist Abbie Van Handel led a focus group session to inform the Community Health Assessment, which the department collects every five years to assess local health status and needs. Puente told the board the data from the focus group and the community survey will be used to (1) determine how to better engage and meet the needs of communities in the Cudahy & South Shore, (2) identify strengths and areas for improvement for community health, and (3) generate actionable data for future programming and priorities. The board did not vote on recommendations at the meeting; staff will analyze the collected input and return findings in a future report.
