Commission rezones Lot 2 of Abood Addition to C-3

The Kearney City Planning Commission voted to rezone Lot 2 of the Abood Addition from R-1 residential to C-3 general commercial (rezoning number 2026-01). A motion to approve, offered based on the city's findings of fact and seconded, carried following brief discussion and affirmative responses from members.
Craig Bennett, the applicant's representative, said the rezoning request is intended to allow commercial development on the parcel and explained site access and utilities could support such development. "So we're asking to rezone that to C3," Bennett said. Planning staff had recommended approval, noting compatibility with the proposed future land use and surrounding zoning.
