$2.6 million EDA grant will fund major Box Butte sewer extension; city share small relative to grant

Kaylee James told the commission the Box Butte business development project will extend sanitary sewer and water infrastructure near 39th Street and Antelope Avenue, enabling development on more than 400 acres where sewer availability currently limits growth. “We received a $2,600,000 grant from the Economic Development Administration,” James said, describing the grant and the project's cost breakdown; she added the city’s share would be about $650,000 plus approximately $508,000 in local match from several business owners.
James said the work would include construction of new sewer mains and water lines, a 36‑foot concrete curb and gutter, stormwater inlets and related infrastructure in street right‑of‑way and utility easements, and that the project will connect into existing sewer lines on Chase Avenue. Commissioners did not object and recommended the capital report for approval.
