Finance director Kaylee James described a major street reconstruction project on Avenue A between 31st and 35th Streets that is sized and scoped for concrete pavement and supporting utility work. “This project will include 6 inches foundation course or as otherwise determined by geotechnical investigation,” James said, and she noted the work would also include water, sewer and stormwater improvements, sidewalk and curb ramp reconstruction, and conduit installation for new roadway lighting.
The preliminary estimate listed in the packet for that project was $1,534,100; James said the design phase will refine foundation and drainage details and that city electrical crews will install the lighting system while the contractor will provide conduit and pull boxes. Commissioners did not delay the project during the meeting and had only clarifying questions about traffic patterns and hospital access.
