Health and ecology monitoring scheduled for Paradise Park: mosquito trapping, bird walks and water testing

The commission recorded several upcoming monitoring and outreach activities: Vermont Department of Health officials will conduct mosquito trapping to monitor potential mosquito‑borne disease outbreaks; Holly Henderson of the Upper Valley Land Trust will conduct two bird walks around Lake Runnemede on May 23; and Jim Bennett will conduct water monitoring for Lake Runnemede while LaRosa Partnership Program testing of Hubbard Brook began on May 10 and Lake testing by LMP will begin in June.
Bennett described his independent monitoring of phytoplankton and macrophyte growth patterns as well as physical water attributes (temperature, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, oxidation‑reduction potential and conductivity), which he said is separate from DEC supplemental testing scheduled in June but could add useful local data.
