Fire chief reports multi-day park event, water rescue and Knox program plans

Fire Chief Jeremy Haddix told the council that the department met with event organizers, described as "Cartoon Headquarters," about a multi-day event in the park planned for late May or early June that will include demonstrations of fire training multiple times each day. The department will cover the cost of training and provide apparatus; organizers plan a Friday presentation to honor first responders, nurses, military and veterans.
During the fire chief's report he said there had been a recent water rescue: "There was a water rescue last week...and a life was saved." Deputy Chief Nathan Rohrbough said he is working to implement a Knox Program for commercial properties in the community; the meeting minutes note this is in progress and that more information will be provided later.
