Hearing set on proposed Lenz Ditch assessment changes in Ottawa County

The Board of Ottawa County Commissioners accepted the County Engineer's recommendation to revise the permanent assessment base for the Lenz Ditch and set a public hearing on the proposed changes for May 14, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in the Emergency Operations Center at the Ottawa County Courthouse, 315 Madison Street, Port Clinton. The Board set the changes to be effective June 5, 2026 if adopted at that hearing.
The Board also set a fallback schedule: should the May hearing be continued, a second hearing is scheduled for Aug. 6, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.; any changes approved at that second hearing would take effect Sept. 1, 2026. The action was moved by Commissioner Mark E. Coppeler and seconded by Commissioner Mark W. Stahl; the recorded vote was Stahl yes, Donald A. Douglas absent, Coppeler yes. The County Engineer made the recommendation to the Board.
